Cooperative project of Indonesia and the German Government allows taps Mount South's increasing capacity while saving power consumption significantly. Construction using German technology, water-powered water lifting itself introduced by University of Karlsruhe, involving a number of experts from the University of Gajah Mada, the National Atomic Energy Agency, ITB, ITS, UII and others. River deep as 110 meters underground in Bribin, Gunung Kidul, dammed as high as 15 meters, then it is concluded that water pressure is very large, and water power was used so as to move the pump 246-meter-high water throw with a capacity of 24.6 liters per seconds.
According to President Director of PDAM Gunung Kidul Ir. Ciptomulyono, this project represents the first type of micro hydropower in the world underground.
